Kayla is a female, born in 1988. She was born to mother Kenau at

SeaWorld of Texas and father Orky 2. Kenau and Orky mated when Kenau

was living at SeaWorld of California. Orkid is her half-sister.

She is living at SeaWorld of California. Kayla has no other living family

members. Kayla was the first successfull birth at Texas. Her auntie at birth was

Kasatka, who is now living at the California SeaWorld park.

The little baby was very dependant on her mother and in 1991 Kenau

was moved to SeaWorld of Florida.

The two would never meet again.

In April 1991, Kalya was moved to SeaWorld Aurora, Ohio (now closed)

to live there with Katerina*. In October of 1994 Katerina was moved back to Texas,

where she died in 1999. Winnie* was moved to the

park from Windsor Safari Park in England. Winnie and Kayla became close friends.

Kayla and Winnie were both sent to Texas to live with Haida 2* and her son

Kyuquet, Keet and Katerina. Keet, also known as Grandbaby Shamu was born

in Texas in 1993 to mother Kalina and father Kotar*. He was the first calf to

be born by a mother who was born in captivity herself. Winnie and Haida 2

became best friends and Haida often picked on Kayla. That is why she has a lot

of rake marks on her body. Kyuquet was gentle to her

but he was very dependant on his mother. Though Kayla was mostly alone.

Kayla also met Katerina again but she was mostly with Keet and Kayla was again alone.

In August 2000, Haida 2 died and Winnie got back

to Kayla. Kayla was also depressive as Winnie was and the two helped each

other. Winnie died in April 2001 and since then, Kayla is mostly with Kyuquet, who

also had problems with his mothers death.

They became best friends.

In 2001, Keto was moved to the park but he likes to pick on

other Orcas and was the outsider. In December of 2002, Unna was moved from

Florida to Texas. She became the dominant female

with Kayla, even Unna is younger. Also they became very close friends.

On April 24, 2004, Keet (California), Tuar and Tekoa (both from Florida) were sent to

San Antonio. Kayla fell in love with Tekoa, who also seems to

like her a lot. She is now with Unna, Kyuquet, Tuar and Tekoa most of her time.

Kayla is a great performer but she loves to eat. That the reason why she has to do a

lot of exercises. She is the most well-trained Orca

of Texas; Keet is the other one.

Trainers tried to artifical insement her but it never worked out

yet. Maybe later she can have a calf on her own!
